At the heart of what we do is American food and drink at a high standard but always full of love and classic aspects of the USA. Our kitchen team is led by Head Chef Alex who is a native of the state of Delaware. We strive for the kitchen to run smoothly through communication, protocols and a team of energetic and team-focused chefs.

Currently, we operate a busy weekend brunch service, breakfast and lunch during the week and evening dinners. We are closed Monday and Tuesday. Further on we see Pickle & Rye expanding which would allow our new hires to be a part of the business from an early stage, presenting career path opportunities.

What’s the job?

The chef will report directly to the head chef and sous chef. They will begin by learning each station thoroughly – salad/sandwich, grill, breakfast and fryers. This will include recipes, prep, service and opening/clean-down. After mastering each station, the chef will be responsible for a prep list and days needs, contributing to an efficient and consistent daily service. We promote a healthy work/life balance at Pickle & Rye and therefore tailor our full-time rotas to 40 hours and no more than 45 hours a week, for part-timers, no more than 25 hours a week.

Required Skills

In addition to the standard skills required in any kitchen, specifically, our ideal chef de partie would have knowledge of American cuisine and have a passion for food that is homemade and from the heart. Importantly, the successful candidate will work well with the team to uphold high standards, enjoy their work, and inspire pride in the work through passionate energy for providing wonderful food from the heart.

Assistant Manager – Front of House (40HRS)

We are looking for an Assistant Manager to join our authentic American diner and bar. Pickle & Rye is a family and chef owned independent business serving high quality, authentic dishes that are all made freshly in house. The small teams create a relaxed and fun work environment while serving lots of happy of guests in our newly opened dining room on Upper Richmond Road West. This is a fast-paced environment and a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Manager to work their way up, as this business is growing.

As Assistant Manager you will assist in overseeing the front-of-house team, including training, maintaining standards and ensuring the successful day to day running of the restaurant. You will need to work in partnership with the rest of the front of house and kitchen team, and will also work closely with the hands-on owners in the successful running of the café.

What’s the job?

We are looking for a hands-on Assistant Manager with experience from either a café or restaurant background, with a nurturing and warm leadership style willing to work in a flexible way to help the brand grow. They should be comfortable with working with systems and possess an aptitude for a modern way of working. 

 

The right candidate should have previous management experience in a hospitality setting and should be excited to work in a creative, fast-paced, fluid and flexible environment. They should be able to translate new ideas into a practical way of working with ease.  The ideal assistant manager will have knowledge of American cuisine and have a passion for food that is homemade and from the heart and have an idea of true American hospitality.

We believe in work life balance, every manager gets some weeks working day shifts and some weeks working evening shifts. We are closed Monday and Tuesdays every week (except for bank holidays) and shifts run: Day shift 8AM-4PM and evening shift 3PM-11PM. The kitchen closes at 10PM every evening. 
  • All candidates must be eligible to work in the UK and will be required to provide suitable and up-to-date ID at first stage interview.

Front of House Server – (Part-Time, 25-35hrs) From fluffy blueberry pancakes to a spicy rib rub we have a passion for brining American flavours to the UK. We strive for a comfortable, fun dining experience for all our customers. We are looking for an enigmatic front of house server to be a part of our busy FOH team. On top of that, we are a community! At the Pickle our customers love to get to know you. The ideal candidate would have experience taking orders, exceptional food product knowledge, and an overall knowledge of food service – must have coffee/barista skills.

You will be charming, charismatic by providing a highly efficient, warm and effective service. You will be an inspirational and team player with the ability to work with the whole team.
